WHAT DOES REMAPPING MY CAR DO?
Your vehicles Engine control unit or more commonly known as the ECU has a “map” which instructs the injections system how much fuel to send to the engine. And also on petrol cars when to ignite the spark plugs.
Manufactures set the car up in a way to allow for the lowest grade of fuel, however when we remap your vehicle it optimises the performance for the higher quality fuels that we have in the U.K
Red Hot Remaps procedure will instruct your car to run more efficiently to save on those dreaded trips to the pump and to increase power by making the combustion process more efficient.
IS REMAPPING THE SAME AS CHIPTUNING?
Pre year 2000 the only way to tune your vehicle was to solder a new chip inside the ecu, this would permanently change the settings on your car. Due to the advent of new technology it is possible to remap your car using a far less intrusive way, via the OBD port. We always save a copy of the vehicles standard map before uploading our bespoke performance map.
WHAT VEHICLES CAN YOU DO?
We can tune the majority of vehicles from the year 2000, this is done via the On Board Diagnostic port on you vehicle
HOW DO YOU ALTER THE ECU?
The engine programme is held in the engine control unit, this information is ready by our specialist software, once we have this information we can alter a number of maps before uploading the modified version back onto you vehicle.
CAN THE VEHICLE BE PUT BACK TO STANDARD?
We offer a free service should you at any point want your car putting back to standard.
WILL THE MAIN DEALERS KNOW?
In the majority of cases a remapped ecu is not detectible by the dealers standard diagnostic tools, however if a trained engineer like ourselves were to read the ecu and compare to an original vehicle then it would be apparent. It is very unlikely that your dealer would ever have the software to do this.
WHAT IS A TUNING BOX?
Most tuning boxes work by tricking the engine into thinking it is operating under a different condition. This results in more fuel being added.
Other boxes corrupt the date that has left the ecu by giving certain componants false information, In any case the outcome is that more fuel is added, another downside is that the tuning box is constantly altering the ecu info, this results in the ecu altering the info further still, this never ending battle does not give consistant levels of improvement and should be avoided.
On the other hand, red hot remaps completely re writes the map that is already on your vehicle, we fine tune a number of areas including turbo boost, ignition timing, fuel pressure etc.
With the advent of the latest petrol and diesel engines a full remap is the only way to achieve the results that you want, a tuning box simply cannot do this.
